Dia De Los Muertos

Dia De Los Muertos is a Mexican holiday the day after Halloween, where they celebrate their deceased ancestors, remember them, and pray for their spiritual journey.  On the East Coast, I was not very familiar with this holiday.  After moving to Las Vegas, with a large Hispanic population, I became aware of this holiday which has evolved to being much like Halloween, but with certain masks, flowers, and sugar skulls.  In the summer of 2014, I made my first Dia De Los Muertos inspired painting.  She was my first large painting of a person, and I learned a lot in the week I worked on her.  She was featured on two worldwide art publicity online publications, gaining me many Facebook fans across the globe.  I entered her in a local art show the following winter, and was invited to display in two galleries.  When I realized how loved this painting was, I set to work on a series of these ladies.  In 2015 for Day of The Dead, I was a featured artist in a Las Vegas Gallery (Jana's RedRoom) for October, and featured artist at Twisted Artist Gallery for November.  Prices below.  Worldwide shipping available.  I assure you, these are hot ticket items!  Also available in prints.  Ask me and I will direct you to all the options.

Right before Christmas in 2015, two of these large paintings were stolen from the gallery wall.  The following fall for Day of the Dead, I re-painted these two girls, flipping off the thieves.  I was featured in many Las Vegas magazines and newspapers about this show due to the compelling story.  I was hoping it may help find the thieves, but no luck so far... But it did get me a great amount of publicity, and the nickname "Dama de los Muertos."
